The Gstaad Palace is a luxurious 5-star hotel located in Gstaad, Switzerland. Perched on a hill overlooking the town of Gstaad, it offers breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps. 

The Gstaad Palace has a rich and fascinating history that dates back over a century. In 1905, Robert Steffen, a local schoolteacher, purchased land in Gstaad with the vision of building a grand hotel. In 1911 the “Royal-Hôtel and Winter Palace” company was founded in Lausanne, and construction of the hotel began under the guidance of architects Adrien van Dorsser and Charles-François Bonjour. The Gstaad Palace officially opened its doors in December 1913 , offering 165 rooms, 70 of which had their own bathrooms. The hotel saw growth during the interwar period, adding amenities like tennis courts and a pool. The Scherz family took over the hotel in 1947, with Ernst and Sylvia Scherz becoming the directors. The hotel became a popular destination for royalty and celebrities, hosting figures like King Leopold III, Louis Armstrong, and Marlene Dietrich. In the 70s the hotel opened its first nightclub, GreenGo, and continued to attract high-profile guests. Andrea Scherz, the third generation of the Scherz family, took over management duties in 2001.
