Description
Abadía Retuerta LeDomaine is housed in a former abbey founded in 1146 by the Premonstratensian order, a Roman Catholic religious order of canons regular. The abbey underwent a meticulous restoration process to transform it into a luxury hotel while preserving its historical and architectural integrity. The restoration was led by renowned architect Marco Serra.
The interiors feature original vaulted ceilings and stone walls, which add to the historical charm and authenticity of the space. The rooms and common areas are furnished with elegant, contemporary pieces that complement the historical architecture. The central cloister, a hallmark of monastic architecture, is beautifully preserved and serves as a tranquil garden space for guests to enjoy.
The restoration of the abbey not only created a luxurious hotel but also preserved an important piece of Spanish cultural heritage. The project received several awards for its commitment to historical preservation and sustainable tourism.
